What is Wisconsin ranked in volleyball team is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). This is the first time in program history that the Badgers have held the top spot in the AVCA poll.

 

The Badgers have had an incredible season so far, with a 27-1 overall record and a perfect 20-0 mark in Big Ten play. Wisconsin has won 23 straight matches, dating back to early October.

 

Some of the Badgers’ notable wins this season include a five-set victory over then-No. 2 Nebraska, a sweep of then-No. 3 Minnesota, and a four-set win over then-No. 4 Penn State.

 

Wisconsin has been led by a balanced attack all season. The Badgers have four players with over 300 kills, led by redshirt junior Dana Rettke with 441. Rettke is also one of the best blockers you-need-to-know-hurrilet/in the country, ranking second in the Big Ten with 129 total blocks.

 

Sophomore setter Sydney Hilley has been terrific all season, dishing out 1,461 assists while also adding 283 digs and 46 aces. She was named the Big Ten Setter of the Year earlier this week.

 

The Badgers will look to continue their historic season this weekend as they host the Big Ten Tournament. Wisconsin is the top seed in the tournament and will have a bye in the first round. The Badgers will play their first match on Friday, December 6th at 8:00pm CT.

2) The Badgers’ impressive season

 

The Badgers have had an impressive season so far, and they are currently ranked fifth in the nation in volleyball. They have an overall record of 25-4, and they have only lost four games all season. Their most recent loss was to Penn State in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament, but they bounced back and won the third-place match against Michigan State.

 

The Badgers have been led by senior middle blocker Dana Rettke, who was recently named the Big Ten Player of the Year. Rettke is averaging 4.21 kills per set and is hitting .414 for the season. She also has 97 total blocks, which is second in the conference. Other key contributors for the Badgers include freshman setter Sydney Hilley, who was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and sophomore outside hitter Grace Loberg, who was named to the All-Big Ten first team.

The Badgers will now turn their attention to the NCAA tournament, where they will be the fifth seed in the Midwest Region. They will face off against 12th-seeded Marquette in the first round on Thursday.

Carla Rodriguez is a senior outside hitter for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and a First Team All-American in 2016. Rodriguez led the Badgers to the NCAA Championship match in 2015, and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.

 

2. Lauren Carlini

Lauren Carlini is a senior setter for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was named the Big Ten Setter of the Year and a First Team All-American in 2016. Carlini led the Badgers to the NCAA Championship match in 2015, and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.

3. Molly Haggerty

Molly Haggerty is a junior outside hitter for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-American in 2016. Haggerty led the Badgers to the NCAA Championship match in 2015, and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
